Bond is a collaborative work with an Indian artist, Soham Gupta, which emerged from the Sharing Vision Workshop 2018 at Lighthouse Calcutta, under the tutelage of Michael Ackerman and Lorenzo Castore.
“A bond may be formed by any two people who spend time together.”
Soham and I spent a lot of time together during the five days, as we photographed our genuine interactions and at times performed in front of the camera. We shared our thoughts and feelings openly, listened to each other without judgements, had deep conversations about our dreams and had fun playing together. When we part, our bond felt slowly dissipating. In response to this feeling, we burnt the photographs we made and left it to fate to decide the kind of residues that would leave behind.
The images were used to create a short film, Bond, narrating a fictitious story about how a bond between two people can evolve at a certain time and space.
